The issues discussed in Fat Girl are all the way from being overweight to being neglected. These issued affected me because Judith Moore grew up without a father and without a normal mother. She did not receive love from anyone because of her weight and she was always dreaming of finding her dad and becoming a happy family. She imagined her mom calling her nice names and telling her she loves her but it was a fantasy. On top of this, Judith was also constantly haunted by her weight and the skinny and beautiful girls she was surrounded by. Regardless of the bitter moments she had gone through her entire life, she did not treat others the way they treated her. Although she never received love from her mother, she still gave love a chance and she got married. After not seeing her father for four years and not understanding why her father never came to see her, she accepted her dad when she met up with him. Judith did not treat her father in a mean way and she gave him a chance by writing him letters after all those years. This is a sign of courage. It affected me because many people have also hurt me but Judith Moore's attitude and decisions in life taught me not to give up and to be strong. Her forgiving and positive attitude at the end of the story showed me that no matter what happens in life I should learn from it and accept it.
