As I read the long yet short pages of Fat Girl with a great amount of attention, I was able to learn a useful lesson. Not every book has the power to grab the reader in such a way that they also are willing to learn a lesson from another's writing, but it pulled my towards the book due to the fact that it was an autobiography written about a common subject. After reading this book, it changed my perspective towards certain subjects. When I would see an overweight individual I would always think to myself, "Why can't they just take care of themselves." This is not always the case and many overweight people may have a legitimate story or reason to why they are the way they are similar to Judith Moore. When I meet people who are overweight or chubby, it never crosses my mind that they may be sad or hurt because of their weight. Fat Girl opened my eyes in many ways. I realized that everyone should be asked what is wrong in order to have the chance to talk to someone about sensitive topics that never leave them alone. Not only did I learn about the immense pain that abused people suffer from but I also learned that before judging anyone whether they are overweight or unusual, one should realize that there are reasons to why people are the way they are.
