At this point in the book, It is Terri's point of view and she has met Steve at the zoology facility in Australia, and this is Terri's trip to Australia from Oregon. Steve was describes as a really talented man, showing people how to feed a crocodile with a live demonstration, making it look really easy, Terri described it as, "…here was an Aussie bloke with one of the most dangerous wild animals on Earth looking more like he was mailing a letter than depositing food into bone-crushing jaws". She eventually got to meet him and talked to him, she was really into him and her heart was pounding, thinking others can notice. Eventually, Terri was invited to spend the weekend with Steve at the park and she met his parents. Terri mentioned how that was an amazing weekend and will never forget it. Then comes a long another visit to Australia where Steve takes her to site Crocodiles, and that takes place at night, since crocodiles are nocturnal. This is where Terri says," I don't think I'd ever felt so alive", the setting is at a pure pitch black night, with thousands of bugs around in the jungle-like habitat. The energy on the boat had went out, there was no moonlight, no spotlight, only complete darkness. There were billions of winking stars and the river was alive with movement, she was aware of every action around her and that is when she felt alive. The adrenaline pumping moment when she spots a crocodiles eyes with the flash light, it is truly an amazing moment for her.
