Fighting Fire. What a career leap. The author, Caroline Paul, goes from a boring, old, wooden desk, to a hot and action filled field working as firefighter. A female, Stanford University graduate, with high expectations from herself and family became a newspaper writer for experience. She decided to write an article on the mistreatment of firefighters on each other in the San Francisco Fire Department, but ended up getting hired as one. What an unexpected revilement. This is not an ordinary change, for example as a journalist would move on to become a news reporter. Caroline completely changed directions and went from pushing papers to pulling hose off a rig. This shows an adventurous and outgoing personality filled with curiosity not a lot of people have.
I myself share the common personality with the author. I seek adventure and challenge. This is why I do not change career paths, but wish to have more then one. I wish to be a firefighter during college years, and find my way to a career in the United States Secret Service. Changing or having numerous paths does not mean one is confused, it just shows that they would like to experience more things in life then stick to the ordinary.
